About NOWONDER
It Started with a Molecule Already Inside Us. NOWONDER began with two scientists and a molecule they believed deserved far more attention. 2017, biochemist Dr. Gilly Regev and nitric oxide researcher Dr. Chris Miller founded SaNOtize after decades spent studying nitric oxide and its role in human biology.
Nitric oxide is produced naturally throughout the body and participates in a remarkable range of biological processes. The scientific importance of the molecule was recognized by Science when it named nitric oxide its Molecule of the Year in 1992, and later by the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1998.
But nitric oxide presented a practical challenge. It is a short-lived molecule that is difficult to produce, control and deliver at the place and time it is intended to be used. Gilly and Chris set out to solve that problem. Their work led to NORS™, the Nitric Oxide Releasing Solution— a patented technology platform designed to generate nitric oxide at the point of use. It transformed decades of scientific understanding into something practical, portable and simple enough to become part of everyday life.
NOWONDER grew from that science.
Why we started with the nose
Every day, the average person takes roughly 20,000 breaths. Nearly every one begins in the nose.The nose filters, warms and humidifies the air we breathe. It produces mucus, moves unwanted material and helps support the environment through which air first enters the body. It is an extraordinarily active biological system, yet most of us give it very little thought.
We brush our teeth. We wash our hands. We care for our skin. But nasal hygiene has never become an equally familiar part of everyday life. We believe it can.
